Some efforts have already been made in China to emancipate itself from the SWIFT payment network. However, a source has now emerged that announces a joint venture between the Chinese central bank and the payment network. The motives are still in the dark.

Swissquote announces the extension of the crypto service for its customers from 21st March. While previously only the trade with the Top 5 was possible, customers should be able to safe deposit crypto assets with Swissquote and transfer them to wallets as of the end of March. The service is aimed at both institutional and private investors.
The Swiss bank Swissquote is not an empty hand in terms of Bitcoin & Co. Finally, the financial house based in Gland has been offering a trading platform since mid-2017. Since then, the finance company has been working continuously on expanding the service.
As the online bank announces, Swissquote is now going one step further. According to a press release, as of March 21, customers can withdraw crypto assets from the bank’s depositary at will and deposit them on their own wallet – and vice versa.
Security infrastructure improved
Crypto asset custody is considered tricky. Because as an owner, only the one who has the private keys to Bitcoin & Co. can be defined. So should customers choose to put their digital assets in the hands of Swissquote, they should be able to rely on their deposits being secured. For this purpose, the bank cooperates with Crypto Storage AG.

Spanish bank giant Banco Santander has signed a technology agreement with IBM. The deal, which is expected to cost $ 700 million, provides for the bank to use the technology company’s blockchain infrastructure.
It is an elephant wedding as it is in the book: The Spanish banking giant joins forces with the technology group IBM to make common cause. In order to broaden its sphere of influence, Banco Santander said in a press release available to BTC-ECHO, it intends to use IBM technology in the future. With the signing of the contract, Banco Santander is now under the technological hood of IBM for the next five years.

Vulnerability in the Lightning Network, upgrade highly recommended
The developers of the Lightning Network recommend an immediate upgrade to version 0.11 or higher. All node operators of the Lightning Network who are using an LND version from before October 1st are asked to immediately upgrade to version 0.11. The reason for this is that a security hole was found in LND version 0.10, which also affects all versions before that.
The corresponding security hole was communicated on October 9th by Lightning developer Conner Fromknecht. In this regard, he explains:
“Although we have no reason to believe that this vulnerability is already being exploited, we urge the community to immediately update to LND version 0.11 or higher.”

Everything you need to know about the Lightning Network ⚡.
Satoshi himself proposed the first version of payment channels [1]. The Lightning Network paper has zero authors from Blockstream [2]. At least two other entirely independent companies are working on Lightning Network implementations [3][4]. It’s well understood how trustless LN transactions work [5]. The spec [6] and code are open source, feel free to look for a “backdoor”.
